Free Volunteer Services Offered for Your Next MICE Event

The Seoul Convention Bureau's Volunteer Support Program was only established in May of last year; however it has already expanded into a force of over 700 multilingual, energetic and experienced volunteers. "Their team of volunteers helped make our event a great success, and we look forward to maintaining the rich and productive partnership between our two organizations" said David Stanton, chairman of the European Union's Social Protection Committee's Indicator Sub-Group, speaking on an international symposium held earlier this year in Seoul.

The SCB has trained developed volunteers to be used free of charge for MICE related events. These volunteers have all undergone intensive training programs and specialize in numerous tasks and services such as: registering guests, operational duties, language interpretation, accompanying guests on personal tours, as well as becoming executive and Secretariat assistants.

Not only is it a great service offered to meeting planners and organizations, it has also proven to be a great opportunity for many university students to gain work experience, and make friends with international guests. Almost all of the volunteers can speak English, however, many can also speak a second or a third language such as Chinese, Japanese, French, German or Russian.

The program has become an integral and a key factor of the attaining and carrying out successful meetings and events, and the SCB looks forward to developing more even more volunteers catering to the needs of their clients.

The SCB works in partnership with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Seoul Tourism Organization, as well as other related tourism organizations in Korea to attract and assists meeting and event planners with coordination of events and meetings such as site inspections, bidding proposals, transportation, tourism related activities as well as providing financial support.
