Large Korean presence at AIME 2010

21 Jan 10 (TravMedia.com): A large team of Korean MICE industry specialists will visit Australia to participate in AIME2010 in Melbourne on the 2nd and 3rd of March. Joining the Korea Tourism Organization stand no. 3400 are sixteen individual Convention & Visitors Bureaux, hotels and convention and incentive specialists. Seoul Tourism Organization will also have a large presence directly opposite the Korea stand.

Korea is rapidly expanding its share of the lucrative MICE market and has benefited greatly from previous participation in AIME. As one of the world’s most sought after convention destinations, Korea has proven its ability to successfully host international meetings. Korea’s top meetings and conference destinations for Australians are Seoul, the capital followed by Busan, Jeju Island and Daejeon. Korea hosted 293 international meetings in 2008 and is the third most popular meetings destination in Asia.

Korea will play host to the World Firefighter’s Games in Daegu city from 21-29 August this year. It is hoped that many Australian firefighters and their families will attend this world event. As well the capital city Seoul will host several major events throughout the year as Seoul presents itself as the World Design Capital 2010.

Korea has two world scale events in the future with the hosting of the World Athletics Championships in Daegu in 2011 and World Expo 2012 to be held in Yeosu City on the southern coastline of Korea. Korea will also play host to Asia at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.
