The meeting and seminar of the Korea Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) was held on October?? 13 the Intercontinental Hotel, Seoul. Organized jointly by the Seoul Tourism Organization and the Korea Convention Association, the event was attended by approximately 50 members of the MPI Korea Chapter, as well as convention industry representatives seeking membership of the organization.
Following the first event held at the Sheraton Walker Hill Hotel in March, the second event of this year comprised a general meeting and a seminar. The first half of the meeting included a review and passage of the chapter's statutes, appointment of the board of directors, and a report of this year's activities and major goals for next year. The report was aimed to gauge the current status of the organization, as well as provide a forecast of the Korea Chapter's future success. The second half of the meeting featured a number of well-received special lectures provided by distinguished guest speakers, including MPI President Bruce MacMillan, Asia-Pacific Regional Director Michael Tay, and Mr. Yang Ju-yun of KINTEX.
Established with 62 members in November 2008, the MPI Korea Chapter has since grown into a major organization with 102 members. With the help of a newly appointed board of directors that will provide leadership for the organization through 2010 as well as the commitment of every member, the Chapter plans to achieve strong qualitative as well as quantitative growth.
