Seoul-Gwangju / Seoul-Gyeongsangbuk-do Joint Familiarization Tour

Outbound travel companies and media representatives invited to event
Visitors experience the traditional beauty of Korea

The city of Seoul conducted a joint familiarization tour ("fam tour") linking Seoul with Gwangju and North Gyeongsang Province in two separate events that took place for six days and five nights from October 17 and October 24. With 33 representatives from European and North American travel companies and media outlets invited to the event, the fam tour was part of Seoul's efforts to increase the number of foreigners visiting Seoul. The event allowed visitors to experience the unique features and charms of Korea's tourism products, presented by themes including traditional cuisine and herbal medicine designed to satisfy the needs and sensibilities of foreign visitors.

The event, which allowed travel industry representatives from Korea and abroad to network and share valuable information, began with a tour of the Gwangju Design Biennale followed by a hands-on kimchi making experience at the expansive Namdo Traditional Cuisine Experience Park. The visitors then boarded the KTX high-speed train bound for Daegu City, visiting the Andong Hahoe Village and viewing a performance of the Hahoe Masked Dance Ritual for a taste of Korea's rich cultural heritage. President Samuel Koo of the Seoul Tourism Organization also personally attended the luncheon meeting held at "Kongdueeyagi," a restaurant located in the Seoul Museum of History, to show the organization's dedication to enriching the experience of the fam tour participants.
