New Incentives for SME Corporate Event Planners

Corporate planners will be interested to learn that should they choose to hold their meetings or events in Seoul, the Seoul Convention Bureau will offer subsidies of up to £Ü30 million (approximately US$26.5 thousand), as part of a drive to promote the Korean capital as the ideal venue for all MICE needs. As a further incentive, the requirements for an event to qualify for the subsidy have been significantly relaxed, with "30 or more foreign participants, staying in Seoul for two days or longer in a row and meeting schedule" the new base standard.

The initiative has already proven to be a success only a month since it was announced, with a high number of interested SMEs (small and medium enterprises) and local foreign institutions contacting the SCB with regard to financial support. Special support programs tailored to specific convention needs are also provided, with a team of professionals lending their expertise in getting meetings in Seoul off the ground.

SMEs unable to meet the rental costs at the city's convention centers and hotels have an alternative option in Seoul Partners House, a public facility designed especially for the benefit of SMEs and related institutions, affording conference and guest rooms at reduced prices. Seoul Partners House, in Hannam-dong, may be reached online at www.seoulpartnershouse.com or by phone on 02-791-9051~2.
