Seoul to Join Forces with MPI
in Presenting Advanced Training Program

Seoul Tourism Marketing will hold an advanced training program, aimed at providing specialized education on convention planning, from June 10 to 14. The event is to be conducted for MPI, an international convention organization.

The GCMBE (Global Certificate in Meetings and Business Events) II Program, to be offered for the first time in Korea, is an intermediate educational program to plan MPI conventions.

The classes taught in English will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The course consists of: 1) Project Management; 2) Destination and Venue Event Management; 3) Meeting and Business Event Logistics; 4) Project Budget; and 5) Contract Evaluation and Negotiation. On the morning of the last day, a final group presentation will be given.

The program will provide a golden opportunity for officials in charge of meeting and business events in companies and institutions as well as domestic convention personnel seeking to acquire the CMP (Certified Meeting Professionals), a convention planning certificate .

In addition, tuition fees of $1,800 to $2,100 for MPI members from Beijing, China, and Seoul, Korea are expected to be reduced by 50%, with Seoul Tourism Marketing and the Korea Convention Association expected to subsidize the costs.

The MPI's global education centers in the United States, Canada, France and Qatar are also expected to provide the program this year.

The event comes after the MPI signed an MOU in March last year with Seoul Tourism Marketing and the Korea Convention Association to advance diversified PR activities for promotion of Seoul as a strategic partner of MPI and nurturing of specialized convention experts. Seoul Tourism Marketing is an Asian partner of the MPI.
