Seoul Participates in IT&CM 2010

The city of Seoul is successfully promoted at China's premier industry exhibition

The city of Seoul and Seoul Tourism Marketing took part in IT&CM (Incentives Travel & Conventions, Meetings) 2010 in China over April 7-9. IT&CM is China's premier MICE expo, which affords attendees the opportunity to explore and make inroads into local industry markets.

Last year's expo drew in 2,000 attendees, as well as 300 buyers, while 46 business meetings were conducted-twice the number of reserved meetings. The presence of many prominent buyers also underscored the high-level nature of IT&CM and the importance of Seoul's attendance.

Seoul Tourism Marketing aimed to build upon its success at IT&CM 2009, where, through a series of business meetings, it focused upon promoting the support Seoul City will provide global event planners holding corporate meetings there. Key facets of this support include financial subsidies for corporate meetings of up to £Ü30 million and planning expertise provided by the Seoul Convention Bureau. In addition, the regulations under which corporate meetings qualify for the support packages have been considerably relaxed, with "30 or more foreign participants, staying in Seoul for two days in a row and meeting schedule included" as the base requirement. The city is also promoting corporate meetings via multi-cube advertising at Incheon International Airport.

As an official sponsor of ¡®IT&CM 2010', Seoul has also issued bags containing convention promotion materials to 1,200 people, including buyers and media representatives, helping further boost its profile as a highly-desired MICE venue.

The Seoul Convention Bureau, a division of the Seoul Tourism Organization, was set up in 2008 to market Seoul as a prime convention city, as well as offer support to event planners and officials in setting up meetings and exhibitions.
