Seoul's MICE Alliance Gears up for June Launch

Representatives of almost 50 companies in seven industries, including convention centers, hotels, travel agencies and performance organizations in Seoul, met April 21st to prepare for the official launching of the Seoul MICE Alliance (SMA), a MICE industry development body.

The SMA, a partnership between government agencies and private-sector organizations, was formed to enhance the city's global MICE competitiveness as well as better promote Seoul's convention infrastructure and MICE advantages to buyers around the world.

During the meeting of the 47-company committee at the Gana Art Center Academy Hall, organizers and industry experts held discussions on attracting and holding successful conventions and corporate meetings, as well as strategies for ensuring close and seamless cooperation among industry organizations and agencies.

Companies participating in the SMA will receive support for taking part in overseas MICE exhibitions, road shows, conferences and meetings of international organizations, while working closely with the city of Seoul to carry out overseas marketing activities. In addition, new promotion product packages will be created to help underpin the city's efforts to attract high-quality MICE events. Convention and meeting planners and organizers that utilize SMA member companies will receive additional benefits if they receive public assistance in attracting, holding and promoting events.

The official ceremony for the launching of the SMA, which will be chaired by the mayor of Seoul, will be held following the conclusion of regional elections on June 2.
