Seoul's New MPI Course Underscores
The City's MICE Commitments

High expectations for Korea's first world-class meeting planners program

Meeting Professionals International (MPI) will hold a convention planning education program in Seoul for the first time, allowing Korean meetings industry professionals to receive training from a certified international organization without going abroad.

The GCMBE II (Global Certification in Meetings and Business Events II), the MPI's first convention planning education program in Korea, is to be held June 10-14 at COEX. The course is part of the Korea MICE Association's 7th MICE professional training series.

The training course will feature three lecturers from the MPI global center with considerable experience and knowledge: Dr. David Jones, who served as vice president of marketing at the San Jose Convention and Visitors Bureau, and who currently lectures at Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Betsy Bondurant, CEO of Bondurant Consulting and former member of the MPI international board of directors; and Laurel Coote, head of Pick My Brain Consulting and an adjutant professor at Glendale Community College in California.

The program for 40 Korean meetings professionals will be held each day from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a group presentation and a graduation ceremony on the final day. Those who complete the course will receive a certificate from the MPI.

The GCMBE II was made possible through the efforts of the Seoul Tourism Organization and the Korea MICE Association, which have been working together to develop global convention experts since signing a partnership agreement with MPI in 2008. For more information about this program, contact the Convention Bureau of the Seoul Tourism Organization (82-2-3788-0855).
