Seoul to Welcome Hyatt Place Seoul in 2016

City’s 3rd Hyatt Property to Expand Dongdaemun’s MICE Infrastructure

Seoul is to get its third Hyatt hotel in 2016 in the form of its very first Hyatt Place property, it was announced recently. The new facility, which comes in response to a growing demand in business and leisure travel to Seoul, will be located in the city’s Dongdaemun district, making it ideal for business travelers attending meetings in the area.

When complete, the Hyatt Place will offer 204 guest rooms, a variety of meeting facilities, restaurant, bar, and fitness center. It will also add to Hyatt’s already strong presence in Seoul, joining the five-star Grand Hyatt Seoul and Park Hyatt Seoul located in both the city’s northern and southern districts respectively.

"The Hyatt Place brand will perfectly complement Hyatt’s current full service hotel distribution in Seoul," affirmed Peter Walshaw, Area Vice President, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, adding that the new hotel "will serve the increasing demand being generated by the commercial growth of the Gangbuk district and retail shopping of Dongdaemun."

The new Hyatt will form part of the rapidly-developing Dongdaemun district, a popular shopping and tourism area in Central Seoul, which next year is set to gain a new unique meeting venue in the form of the Dongdaemun Design Plaza. It will join the upcoming JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square hotel, scheduled to open early 2014.
