“From Seoul Wellness to K-POP Dance”: Universal Seoul Tour for International Disabled Dancers Successfully Concludes

The Seoul Tourism Organization (President and CEO, Ki Yon Kil) announced that on September 14 and 15, it conducted a Universal Seoul Tour for 47 participants from six countries attending the Korea International Accessible Dance Festival (KIADA).

The Universal Tour is part of the Universal Tourism Environment Initiative, designed to ensure that tourism is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities, seniors, pregnant women, and those with young children. The tour features barrier-free courses to accommodate all visitors.

During the tour, participants visited the Seoul K-medi Center, where they enjoyed hands-on experiences such as making warm eye masks and scent pouches, and attended a K-POP dance lesson at the 1Million Dance Studio. The Seoul K-medi Center drew particular attention as its exterior closely resembles the ‘Han Clinic’ featured in the Netflix film K-Pop Demon Hunters.

The tour route was carefully selected to provide convenient mobility while allowing participants to enjoy K-content and wellness experiences. Vegan meals were also provided, accommodating specific dietary needs.

Participant Iris Gonzalez (Spain) said, “Thanks to the Danurim Bus, I could explore various parts of Seoul while remaining in my wheelchair. I want to tell my family and friends that I visited the ‘Han Clinic’ from K-Pop Demon Hunters.”

Another participant, Amelia Rose Griffin (Canada), shared, “As a K-POP fan, it was meaningful to visit an actual dance studio and learn from professionals.”

To ensure smooth mobility for all participants, the Seoul Tourism Organization deployed wheelchair-lift-equipped Danurim buses. One bus and six minibuses were available, each with designated wheelchair and regular seats, ensuring accessibility for visitors with disabilities.

Lee Jun, Director of the Tourism Infrastructure Team at the Seoul Tourism Organization, said, “It is meaningful to conduct the Universal Seoul Tour with participants celebrating the 10th anniversary of KIADA. We will continue our efforts to make Seoul a tourism city that accommodates all visitors.”
